Why we enjoy what we
do . . .
We are a cross section of the Le
Mars Community
Enjoying life together, while doing good for others. It’s
an expression of our values and the source of great
satisfaction as we laugh, encourage and strengthen
each other -- all with the goal of advancing the best life
can offer -- building our community through the
strength of a proven organization: Kiwanis.
We meet for breakfast the 1st and 3rd Tuesday morning
at the Floyd Valley Healthcare conference room
accessible from the upper level, east entrance.
We undertake several activities as a local club. The
proceeds from these projects are used to achieve the
support goals we have adopted.
Activity
•
The donut shop during the Plymouth County Fair.
Begun in 1977, this activity has generated
thousands of dollars for our projects.
•
The Kiwanis and Aktion Club help stuff plastic
Easter Eggs each year for the Le Mars Easter Egg
Hunt.
Project Support
•
Kiwanis International Eliminate Project is to save
and protect moms and babies from maternal and
neonatal tetanus (MNT). This was started in 2010
as a joint effort with UNICEFF. There are still 14
countries where MNT has not been eliminated.
Joint venture with
Aktion Club
We had a great turnout and a lot of fun
making popcorn balls on Wednesday
evening, November 30th at the
American Legion Hall. Aktion Club
Members, Kiwanis Club Members and
their spouses, Pride Group Employees
and our Nebraska-Iowa Division 5 Lt.
Governor joined in on the fun.
We made approximately 1,500 popcorn
balls in approximately 2 hrs. These
popcorn balls will be handed out at
Pioneer Village Christmas Wonderland
on Saturday & Sunday nights,
December 3rd & 4th and December
10th & 11th.
A big THANK YOU to the American
Legion for letting us use their hall.
Also, a big THANK YOU to Fareway and
Hy-Vee for letting us use their saran
wrap machines.
We enjoy what we do.
We’re always looking
for others to join us.
Our club reflects our values and our
values reflect in our club. We welcome
all ages, men and women from every
background. The common ingredient is
people who desire to make a difference
in our community and the world. We
are committed to encouraging and
inspiring each other.
We welcome others who desire the
same for themselves and our
community. If you’re interested in
exploring Kiwanis, please let us know.
